BMS to oppose Sethusamudram

VISAKHAPATNAM: All unions affiliated to the BMS will hold a ‘rasta roko’ and ‘rail roko’ protest in the district on Wednesday demanding that work on the Sethusamudram project be stopped immediately.

The protest is in response to the call given by the Central Committee of the BMS. BMS district president K.Bhavani Sankarudu said in a statement that the ‘destruction’ of the ancient Ramasethu, for the Sethusamudram project, would affect 3,600 species hitting biodiversity and livelihood of thousands of fishermen.
