VISAKHAPATNAM: Mistaking an ambulance siren for that of a police vehicle, a man climbed on to a tree and fell to death at Chippada in Bheemunipatnam on Sunday. According to Circle-Inspector Devi Prasad, Goni Suribabu, 45, was allegedly having an affair with a relative of his wife. He had stabbed the woman suspecting her fidelity. Accosted by villagers, he had decided to go to the police station to surrender. While he was on his way, he heard the siren of a ‘108’ vehicle. Thinking that police were after him, he had climbed onto a tree, slipped and died. Bomb hoax
Police and a bomb disposal squad searched a cinema theatre at Tagrapuvalasa for three hours on Sunday following a call that a bomb was placed in it. The search proved it was a hoax call.
