Need of the hour: District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish inaugurates a cleanliness drive organised by the TD Road Citizens’ Welfare Association in the city on Sunday.
KOCHI: About 150 people from TD Road area under the aegis of TD Road Citizens’ Welfare Association cleaned up a big plot of land and the surrounding areas on Kamath Lane on Sunday as part of a cleanliness drive organised by the Association. This was in response to a cleanliness call by the District Administration. The District Collector had appealed to the citizens to engage in clean-up activities. The efforts on Sunday were inaugurated by District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish. Cleaning up of vacant plots has become an urgent necessity given the rising mosquito menace and dumping of waste on such plots. The District Administration has decided to enlist the service of residents to clean-up the area in 15 days. Citizens welfare association president K.S. Dilip Kumar presided over the inaugural. Lino Jacob and K.V.P. Krishna Kumar, counsellors were present.
