Rs.5.43-crore work launched in temple

Tuticorin: Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments K.R. Periakaruppan on Saturday inaugurated the infrastructure development works to be taken up by Government in Lord Subramaniyaswamy Temple at Tiruchendur at an estimated outlay of Rs.5.43 crore.

Official sources said that as part of the project, granite pavement would be laid along the Golden Car route at a cost of Rs.44.50 lakh. Closed circuit cameras would be set up at nine places on the temple premises at a cost of Rs.11.60 lakh to improve the surveillance of busy areas. A ‘goshala’ (cattle shed) was planned under the scheme on a 30-acre plot near the temple at a proposed outlay of Rs.47.50 lakh.

The compound wall for the proposed ‘goshala’ would be built at a cost of Rs.36 lakh. Sources said that the two lodges operated by the temple administration would be renovated. New toilets and bath rooms would be constructed.
