NEW DELHI: National champion Tania Sachdev played out a 42-move draw with Nguyen Thi Thanh An to keep alive her chances of qualifying for the World Cup after the sixth round of the Asian women’s chess championship in Teheran on Saturday. Following the draw, the Woman Grandmaster finds herself in the joint fourth spot with four others at four points. Nguyen Thi Thanh An (Vietnam), Ruan Lufei and Huang Qian (both China) share the lead at 4.5 points. Nisha Mohota lost to Ruan Lufei to stay at 3.5 points where she was joined by team-mate Aarthie Ramaswamy. Eesha Karavade also reached 3.5 points after a marathon 87-move triumph over Iran’s Shayesteh Ghaderpour. The results (sixth round, involving Indians): Nguyen Thi Thanh An (Vie, 4.5) drew with Tania Sachdev (4); Nisha Mohota (3.5) lost to Ruan Lufei (Chn, 4.5); Zhang Xiaowen (Chn, 3.5) drew with Aarthie Ramaswamy (3.5); Eesha Karavade (3.5 ) bt Shayesteh Ghaderpour (Iri, 3); Swati Ghate (3) drew with Shadi Paridar (Iri, 3); Le Kieu Thein Kim (Vie, 2.5) bt Amruta Mokal (2.5).
