First-timers to city get horrific welcome

Two from Chandigarh injured

HYDERABAD: Their first visit to the city left two software engineers from Chandigarh with dreadful memories. Ankit Srivastava and Amandeep Singh, both employees of Infosys at Chandigarh had come to the city by air from New Delhi half-an-hour before the accident occurred.

After landing at the Hyderabad Airport, the duo took a cab provided by the office and was proceeding to their hotel when the cement beams fell on the cab and almost crushed them. While Ankit, hailing from Patiala was shifted to NIMS Amandeep was shifted to Apollo hospitals in Jubilee Hills.

Amandeep’s father G.S. Waliatold The Hindu from Shahpur in Punjab that his son along with Ankit landed in Hyderabad for one-month training at the Hyderabad centre.

Both had joined the organisation a year back. “He called me before he left Delhi Airport and two hours later I heard of the accident. Though I did speak to my son and the doctors also informed that he is out of danger, I am still worried,” he said.

The family was busy making preparations to come to Hyderabad to see their son.
