Mixed luck for Guntur

VISAKHAPATNAM: Guntur had mixed luck in the sixth State beach handball championships for the Wellfare Cup here on Sunday.

It retained the women’s title in a repeat final with Visakhapatnam, but lost to Vizianagaram in the men’s final. Warangal finished third in both sections.

The results: Men: Final: Vizianagaram bt Guntur 17-10, 15-19, 3-2. Semifinals: Guntur bt Visakhapatnam 15-14, 11-13, 5-6; Vizianagaram bt Warangal 17-12, 12-11.

Women: Final: Guntur bt Visakhapatnam 9-7, 6-4, 3-1. Semifinals: Guntur bt Warangal 8-6, 7-9, 4-1; Visakhapatnam bt Nellore 1-0, 1-0.
