‘104’ health service for interior areas soon

Doctor posts to be filled soon

VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Health S. Chandrasekhar has said that a toll free ‘104’ service on the lines of ‘108’ will be introduced shortly for interior areas. The Minister said that the government had introduced ‘Arogya Sri’ scheme to provide corporate medical assistance to poor people and the scheme would be extended to Vizianagaram district next year.

Speaking at the “Thanks giving function” of Life Line Project at Gokapeta here on Sunday evening, the Minister said that the State Government had been meeting 95 per cent of the expenditure of 108 service and for the balance five per cent it was receiving software and management assistance from private firms. He said that the government would act positively to the proposal for a vector research centre in Vizianagaram.

Anthrax

Applauding non-governmental organisations and the district administration for making the Life Line project a success, Mr. Chandrasekhar said that the government would recruit the vacant 969 doctors and 759 nurses posts in PHCs in addition to filling up of 2,750 ANMs.

Minister for Housing Botsa Satyanarayana said that three Anthrax cases from Bhogapuram mandal were reported and asked the district Collector to create awareness on the precautions to be taken among people by organising workshops. Collector B. Kishore said that 1,100 operations were conducted so far in the Life Line project. Lok Sabha member Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi presided. K. Veerabhadra Swamy, MLA, the project chairman V.V. Kasi Viswanatham, convenor Tirumala Prasad and others spoke.
