Congress candidate files papers

Udupi: The lone nomination filed on the first day, Monday, for the urban local body elections in Udupi district was from former vice president of Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) Renold Praveen Kumar.

Mr. Kumar filed two sets of nomination for the Badagabettu ward (No. 22). U.R. Sabhapathi, former MLA U.R. Sabhapathi, president of District Congress Committee M.A. Gafoor, president of Udupi Taluk Panchayat Shyamala Sudhakar, former chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority Alevoor Nagaraj, and president of Udupi Block Congress Diwakar Kundar, were present. Mr. Kumar came in a procession from the Congress election office at Bailur to the taluk office for filing his nomination. Mr. Sabhpathi inaugurated the election office at Bailur. No nominations were filed for polls to the town municipal council of Kundapur and Karkala.
