The entire Mass Rapid Transit System scenario will undergo a sea change once the Tirumailai-Velachery section is declared open for traffic.

Only one line is currently in operation in the section between Tirumailai and Tiruvanmiyur.

After inauguration, both lines between Thirumailai and Velachery would become operational.

The frequency of the service that is now once in 30 minutes would be reduced to 10 minutes, providing more services to commuters.

The Commissioner of Railway Safety has already cleared the lines for passenger traffic.
