BEIJING: Asian No. 1 Lee Hyung-taik of South Korea led the way into the second round of the China Open tennis tournament on Monday, as World No. 7 Fernando Gonzalez broke a miserable post-Wimbledon run. Lee, seeded six here and enjoying his best season in the rankings at 43rd, was a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 winner over little-known Chilean Adrian Garcia, building on his solid run at the U.S. Open that took him to the fourth round. Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna recorded a 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 6-1 victory over Phillip King of the U.S. in the third and final qualifying round. The 252nd ranked Bopanna, who has assured himself of five ATP points for the qualification, has drawn the seventh-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France in the first round of the main draw.
