KOCHI: The Rameswaram-Ramasethu Raksha Samity will block road and rail services in the State on September 12 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The agitation is part of a country-wide agitation the Samity has undertaken to prevent the Central Government from damaging the Rameswaram Ramasethu, said Samity national secretary N.M. Sukumaran. The destruction of the sethu will result in serious environmental harm. It will also deny 54,000 fishermen families their livelihood, he said. Samity State vice-president K.V. Madanan and State convener V.K. Viswanathan attended the press conference.
