BANGALORE: Pranksters on Monday morning created bomb scare at a private school and a prayer hall in the city by making anonymous telephone calls that explosives have been planted at the two places. However, the anti-sabotage searches conducted by the police did not reveal any explosives, and the calls turned out to be hoax. The police said that around 9.15 a.m., the Principal of Shantiniketan School, situated on 8th Main Road, Viveknagar, had received a call that a bomb had been planted at the school. The principal immediately called the number displayed on the caller identification device, and it was traced to a public call office (PCO) near Infant Jesus Church in Vivekanagar. The Viveknagar police, along with the staff from Bomb Detection Squad, searched the school premises. In the other incident, around 9.15 a.m. the staff at NSVK School in 2nd Stage, Banashankari, received a call that a bomb had been placed at a prayer hall near the school in Karesandra. The Banashankari police, along with Bomb Detection Squad personnel, searched the premises in vain. The call was traced to a coin phone booth near a private polyclinic in 2nd Stage, Banashankari, the police said. The Viveknagar and Banashankari police have registered separate cases in connection with the incidents.
