PUDUCHERRY: The representatives of local body institutions on Monday said they will launch an agitation against the territorial administration if their demands regarding transfer of powers were not met within a fortnight. Returning from Delhi after meeting the President, the Prime Minister and Union Ministers seeking their intervention in transferring powers, the Confederation of Local Bodies Organisations of the Union Territory leaders told reporters that they would wait for another 15 days for the territorial administration to act. If there was no positive response, a massive agitation would be launched. Terming the visit as “extremely satisfactory,” G. A. Jaganathan, president of the organisation, said Minister for Panchayati Raj Mani Shankar Aiyar had agreed to prevail upon the territorial administration to transfer the powers. He said the delegation had told them that without delegation of powers, even Centrally-sponsored schemes cannot be implemented by the institutions.
