Court order restricting grant of lease to OMC stayed

Hyderabad: A Division Bench of the High Court on Tuesday stayed the operation of the ruling of the single judge who had set aside the grant of mining lease for iron ore to the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) for a large area in Muppenegude village, D.Hirehal mandal, Anantapur district.
It may be recalled that there was a controversy about the grant of lease to OMC, as it was alleged that the promoter had close links with the son of the Chief Minister. One T.Shyam Sundar and others filed writ petitions complaining that the authorities had granted lease to OMC in violation of the rules.
The single judge allowed the writ petition setting aside the notification and the grant of lease.
OMC filed an appeal against the judgment and complained that the judgment went beyond the scope of the pleas and prayers sought for.
The Bench ordered notices to other respondents and stayed the operation of the judgement.
