THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The United Forum of Bank Unions has postponed its nationwide strike planned on Wednesday, the State committee of its affiliate organisation All India Bank Officers’ Confederation said in a statement released here on Tuesday. The decision follows a promise of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) to commence discussion on the issues raised by the unions within two weeks. The IBA made the promise at a meeting called by the Central Labour Commissioner in New Delhi, the statement said. The unions want the banks to restore appoitment of the kin of those who died while in service, a second option in the matter of pension benefit, end the system of outsourcing work and recruit employees to fill more than one lakh vacancies, the statement released by the association said. The UFBU comprises the All India Bank Employees Association, the All India Bank Officers Confederation, the National Confederation of Bank Employees, All India Bank Officers Association, Bank Employees Federation of India, Indian National Bank Employees Congress, etc.
