Order cancelling lease stayed

BELLARY: A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court has stayed a single-judge order cancelling the notification on grant of lease to Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) at Malapanagudi village in Andhra Pradesh, bordering Karnataka.

G. Janardhan Reddy, suspended BJP MLC and Managing Director of the OMC, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the company had applied for lease on August 28, 2004, and the lease agreement was executed on July 18, 2007 for 68.5 hectares.

Shyam Prasad, who had also applied for lease of the same area in April 2007, filed a writ petition against this in the High Court. A single judge ordered cancellation of the lease notification, against which the OMC filed an appeal, Mr. Reddy said.
