Mexican President visits Bangalore campus

BANGALORE: Wipro Technologies on Tuesday announced the opening of its first development centre at Monterrey in Mexico, coinciding with the visit of Mexican President Felipe Calderon Hinjosa to the Wipro campus here. Initially, the Monterrey centre will have 100 staff, trained by Wipro. The Mexican delegation was received by Wipro Chairman Azim Premji. The Chief Operating Officer of Wipro, A. L. Rao, later said, “the new facility will enhance our delivery capabilities in the central time zone to better serve many North American clients and their operations in Latin America.

Wipro chose a base in Mexico because of the broad language skills available in that region and as we consider Latin America a strong emerging market where many of our clients already have operations.”

The Monterrey centre will join the company’s network in Brazil, Europe, China, the U.S. and Canada and strengthen Wipro’s global delivery capabilities. During his visit, the Mexican President also met Mexican employees, who are here for their induction and training.

“We are optimistic about the growth opportunities and potential of talent available in this region. We will recruit the best people and provide them with extensive training in our high quality delivery processes and methodologies that we deploy to successfully deliver to our customers across the globe,” Ramesh Emani, President, Telecom and Product Engineering Solutions Division, Wipro Technologies, said.
