CHENNAI: Salcomp, a leading global manufacturer of chargers for mobile phones, is likely to triple its investment in Tamil Nadu to increase production from 33 million chargers to 100 million chargers a year by 2008-09. “This gives us a firm establishment in the most rapidly growing mobile market in the world… It also means we have two international facilities to learn from and inspire each other to go forward,” said Salcomp Chairman, Mats Heiman, speaking at the official inauguration of the Indian manufacturing unit located at the Nokia Special Economic Zone in Sriperumbudur. The company has spent over nine million euro on the plant and “investment will continue”, promised Salcomp Manufacturing India director, Arto Makela. The company will ramp up capacity by adding 16 production lines to the existing eight lines.
