THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thrissur and Palakkad District Cricket Associations have lodged a protest to the Kerala Cricket Association against the Idukki DCA for violation of the KCA player registration rules in the Central Zone under-22 inter-district tournament which concluded on Monday. In separate protest letters, the respective secretaries of the Thrissur and Palakkad DCAs, K. Pramod and A. Syeb Ziabudeen, said that six players who had represented Idukki in the tournament had violated the nativity clause in the players registration rules of the KCA. Identifying the players, Arun Poulose and U. Achuthan as hailing from Ernakulam and V.S. Shiju, M. Jijin, A.V. Anjith and Santu Jose from Thiruvananthapuram districts as having violated the relevant KCA rules, the protest lodged with the KCA president, T.R. Balakrishnan, said, “ they were neither natives nor registered players of the Idukki DCA and this is a clear violation of the KCA players registration rules and against the policies of the KCA with regard to the development of cricket in each district. Hence, it is kindly requested that immediate action should be against the Idukki DCA.” Clarification
In the meanwhile, the Idukki DCA secretary, B. Vinod, maintained that all the six players, though hailing from other districts, were indeed registered players with his association. “We have an open view on the subject as what we have in mind is the betterment of Kerala cricket,” he said. Incidentally, Idukki is the home district of the KCA secretary, T.C. Mathew. — Special Correspondent
