BANGALORE: Karnataka State Police (KSP) registered its third win in four outings with a solitary goal verdict over a fighting Southern Blues in the super division football league at the Football Stadium here on Tuesday. KSP, after its shock reversal at the hands of Postal, has been on a winning streak and on Tuesday too, the script stayed the same, though without much conviction. KSP got into scoring positions on a quite few more occasions, but it was either hasty or unequal to the task and it was an early goal from the young Karthik that gave the team full points. Karthik, put through by a long ball from veteran Sampath Kumar, neatly flicked over an onrushing goalkeeper Nikhil Bernard manning the Blues goal. The custodian however came out trumps on a few other times when the KSP players essayed shots at the goal. Karthik was foiled by an alert Nikhil soon after off a breakaway move and well into the second session, Archan, off a Karthik square, only managed to shoot straight onto Nikhil. Southern Blues did manage to steal the ball in the midfield and build its own sorties, but ran out of ideas when it came to taking the shots. Blues’ best chance came in the 79th minute when Roy split the defence with a fine centre, but Uday Kumar failed to reach the ball and direct it goalwards. While KSP has nine points from four outings, Southern Blues, which has been in the super league for a couple of seasons now, has just a solitary win against two defeats thus far. Dharmaraja Union, virtually comprising of St. Joseph College of Commerce team, routed Universal FC 5-1 in an ‘A’ division encounter. Both the teams have a win and a loss each. Allwyn (11th, 58th, 90th) and Sam (14th and 16th) struck the goals for the winner, while Raju reduced the margin in the 24th minute. Mysore Dist. wins
