Wreckage found strewn around on vacant land Both the bodies charred beyond recognition
SUDDEN DEATH: Indian Air Force men check the site where the aircraft crashed on Tuesday.
HYDERABAD: An Indian Air Force aircraft Kiran Mark-1, which was on a regular night sortie, crashed here on the city outskirts leaving Squadron Leader H.C. Bhagat, 36, and Flight Cadet U.C. Saty, 20, dead in the early hours of Tuesday. Wreckage of the two-seater aircraft was found strewn around on the vacant land belonging to Hakeempet Air Force station, some 20 kilometres from city centre. Bodies of the squadron leader and the trainee pilot were charred beyond recognition. “Only a DNA test on the charred flesh would help establish the identity of victims,” Cyberabad DCP (Crimes) E. Damodar told The Hindu after visiting the spot. The 100-odd trainee pilots of Hakeempet Air Force station are taken on regular day and night sorties. The trainer aircraft took off around 2.50 a.m. It was over the station premises when it suddenly crashed after an hour. Cause of the crash was not yet known. No civilian was injured. No private property got damaged in the crash. The Air Force authorities reportedly constituted a court of inquiry into the incident.
