PALAKKAD: Justice P.R. Sundaram Iyer Memorial Award and Lecture-2007 organised by the Centre for Sanskrit and Vedic Studies and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Puthucode Kendra, will be held at Shiva Mahal, North Village, Puthucode, on September 16, 2007. The theme of the lecture will be ‘Sanskrit and History,’ with particular reference to the historical and cultural significance of Ramar Sethu, the oldest heritage site in the world at the Palk Strait between India and Sri Lanka. The speakers include Dr. S. Kalyanaraman, director, Sarasvathi Sindhu Research Centre, Chennai; P. Parameswaran, director, Bharatheeya Vichar Kendra, Thiruvananthapuram; and V. Sundaram, former chairman, Tuticorin Port Trust. Speakers of the Sanskrit session are Dr. Vishnu Namboodiri, Sanskrit scholar and faculty of the Kannur Kendra of Sri Sankaracharya University, Kalady; Dr. N.K. Sundareswaran, Sanskrit scholar and faculty of S.B. College, Changanachery, among others.
