In memorium: A sand image of the World Trade Center created by sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik at Puri beach on Tuesday. –
BHUBANESWAR: His hectic life notwithstanding, veteran sand sculptor Sudarsan Patnaik of Puri has never missed to pay his tribute to the victims of September 11 attack on the World Trade Centre. On the sixth anniversary of the tragic day on Tuesday, the master sculptor has put up replica of the twin towers on the golden sands of Puri beach as reminder of the ghastly incident. "People’s memory is very short. They need to be reminded of certain things again and again," felt Sudarsan who has joined the rest of the world in paying homage to the innocent victims. Messages
"All ideologies end up killing people" and "Stop terrorism, Save human life" are the two messages that the internationally famous sand artist has inscribed on the body of his work on sand. His band of disciples at his Golden Sand Art Institute assisted him in sculpting the image. As soon as the team led by Sudarsan started sculpting the twin towers on Tuesday morning, a large number of morning-walkers gathered all around to observe his work in the making. And a few foreigners were seen busy clicking till the work was complete. Rave response
Known for his apt and contemporary concepts, Sudarsan’s similar tribute to the victims of the tsunami, earthquake and Mumbai train blasts had evoked rave response from the public.
