ALLAHABAD: Barely a week after the alleged desecration of a holy book had rocked the city, reports of a similar incident triggered tension in parts of Allahabad district on Monday, a senior police said. “There were reports of alleged desecration of a holy book inside a place of worship in Phoolpur police station area,” Allahabad Range Deputy Inspector General A.K. Prasad said. No arrests made
Mr. Prasad said forces were immediately rushed to prevent any outbreak of violence. No arrests were made, he added. A Sub-Inspector of Police has been suspended in connection with the violence by an agitated mob over the alleged desecration of a holy book last week, resulting in clamping of curfew in the old city area. Suspended
In-charge of Kareli police station Manoj Raghuvanshi was suspended on the charge of failing to control the violence and showing laxity in arrest of the accused, official sources said. — PTI
