Dismissal sought

BANGALORE: Over 70 women from several women’s and other social organisations gathered on the premises of the postmortem section of Victoria Hospital, Bangalore, demanding the dismissal of Manjunath, professor, Department of Forensic Medicine, Victoria Hospital, after he was shown accepting a bribe by a TV channel on September 9.

Vimochana has filed a complaint with the police station in Victoria Hospital saying that as the doctor had been shown accepting bribe on the public TV channel, it is evidence enough to arrest him on corruption and charges of breach of trust of patient’s families. A delegation later met Health Minister R. Ashok and demanded that he take immediate action against Dr. Manjunath. The Minister pleaded helplessness, saying that according to the law he could only suspend the doctor. He also advised the delegation to meet the Chief Secretary for further action, a release said.
