Devotee filed complaint that valuables were missing
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Principal Sub Judge S.S. Vasan on Tuesday issued a prohibitory injunction restraining Sasidharan R., the executive officer of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, from opening the six cellars inside the Nalambalam (inner wall) or taking away articles in a manner detrimental to the interest of the devotees. The injunction comes in the wake of a petition filed by advocate T.K. Ananda Padmanabhan on behalf of N. Viswambharan a devotee and a resident of Balaramapuram, stating that a lot of valuables, including diamonds and gold, stored inside the cellar were found missing after the cellars were opened by the executive officer on the pretext of taking photographs in February this year. The petition also stated that it was for the first time that cameras were taken inside the temple, violating the rituals of the temple. Decreeing the order of injunction, the court observed that the respondent was found prima facie “trying to do mischief at the great centre of pilgrimage and heritage site.”
