Cal School triumphs

Cal Public School recorded a nine-wicket win over Gowtham Model School in the final of the Glendale Trophy inter-school (under-13) cricket tournament.

Rahul Singh was named Player of the Final and Chaitanya, the Player of the Tournament.

The scores:

Gowtham Model School 86 for six in 20 overs (Arun 61) lost to Cal PS 87 for one in 12.4 overs (Chaitanya 32 not out, Rahul Singh 34 not out).

Special prizes: Nandu Gowtham (Model School, best bowler); Ali Mansoor (Nasr; best fielder), Arun (Gowtham Model School, best batsman).
Praveen finishes second

National champion Praveen Prasad of Champions Chess School (Hyderabad) finished runner-up in the International FIDE-rating tournament in Nagpur, according to a release.

The 19th seed of the tournament totalled 7.5 points from 10 rounds and collected a cash prize of Rs. 31,000.
Bridge tournament

Jubilee Hills International Centre will conduct the annual open bridge championship from October 13 to 15 at its premises.

Competitions will be held in team of four duplicate, board-a-match and master pairs events.

Shiva spins a web

Left-arm spinner K. Shiva Kumar of Visakhapatnam picked up five wickets against Vizianagaram in the ACA North Zone under-15 inter-district tournament here on Tuesday.

Later, K.S. Bharat hit a century as Visakhapatnam made 241 for three.

In another match, Eswar scored a hundred for East Godavari against Srikakulam on the first day of the third round of the two-day league matches.

The scores:

Vizianagaram 125 in 62 overs (Ravi 37, K. Satish 33, Prasanth 25, K. Shiva Kumar five for 40) vs. Visakhapatnam 241 for three (K.S. Bharat 119, Praneeth 61, K.A. Ramakishore 49 batting).

East Godavari 234 for seven in 90 overs (Eswar 107, Bharani Kumar 63, Abhinav Sagar 37, Mohan four for 52) vs. Srikakulam nine for two in 9.4 overs.

Chess tournament

YMCA, in association with the Rotary Club of Waltair, will organise a chess tournament for non-medallist children in u-10, 12 and 15 categories at its premises in Visakhapatnam on September 15.
