NEW DELHI: Six persons were killed and a young man was injured in separate accidents reported in the Capital during the past 24 hours.
According to the police, Anand (22) and Ranjit (23), both drivers by profession, were killed when their Indigo car overturned and hit a tree on Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road early on Tuesday morning. The car bore a Haryana registration number and the deceased were residents of Chattarpur Basti.
In a hit-and-run case, Dharmender (25) and Gopal (24) were killed when their motorcycle was hit by an unknown vehicle at Jehangirpuri around midnight. Both sustained serious head injuries and were declared brought dead at Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital.
Twenty-year-old Ashish Mehra was mowed down by a DTC bus on Monday evening while he was allegedly trying to overtake the vehicle from the wrong side. A case of causing death due to negligence has been registered against bus driver Ved Pal who has been arrested. The bus, plying on route 827, has been impounded.
In another hit-and-run case, Deepak Karan, a native of Orissa, was fatally hit by an unknown vehicle at Anand Vihar early on Tuesday morning while he was returning from his friend’s house. Eighteen-year-old Manoj sustained minor injuries when he was hit by a Blueline bus near a petrol pump in Timarpur on Tuesday evening. The bus plies between Rohini and Anand Vihar.
