Silver Hills tops CBSE fete

CHAMPIONS: The Silver Hills Public School team which came first in the CBSE Kalotsav 2007.

Kozhikode: Silver Hills Public School, Kozhikode, came first in the CBSE Kalotsav 2007 organised by Sahodaya Schools Complex of Malabar Region at the Alphonsa Senior Secondary School, Thamarasserry, in the district on September 10 and 11.

The School got 248 points. The hosts, Alphonsa Senior Secondary School, Thamarassery won the second place with 162 points. Rani Public School Vadakara won the third place with 134 points.

School Principal Fr.Joswin Thundathil told The Hindu that the general public often feel that CBSE schools focus only on academics. “But our school encourage students to take part in cultural programmes also. We saw that the students participate in almost all the events,” he said.

Schools from Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad and Wayanad districts participated in the Kalotsav.

Thomas Nagaparambil, Thamarassery diocese vicar-general inaugurated the valedictory function of the festival on September 11.

Sahodaya Complex president Airport School principal K. Unnikrishnan presided. P.K. Gopi, poet, delivered the key note address. Festival committee general convener and vice president, Sahodaya Complex, Fr.Joseph Mannoor, Manager, Alphonsa Senior Secondary School, Thamarassery and N.Ramachandran Nair, Sahodaya secretary were among those who spoke.

Kolkali: Fasal Rahman and party, Al-Farooq Residential School (Grade A); Krishnaraj and party Silver Hills Public School (Grade A).

Oppana: Swahila and party, SMI Public School, Kunhippalli (Grade A); Nihara V. and party, Rani Public School, Vadakara.

Bharatanatyam: Aishwarya Sudhakaran, Silver Hills Public School (Grade A); Radhika, Al-Farooq Residential School (Grade A).

Group Dance (Category II): 1. Ambili Unnikrishnan and party, Silver Hills Public School (Grade A); Najiya Nazar and party, Bee Line Public School (Grade A).

Mime: Al-Shihad and party, Noble Public School, Manjeri (Grade A); Sandeep P.S. and party, Sri Valluvanad, Perinthalmanna (Grade A).
