He addresses gram sabha as part of ‘Intinta Indiramma’ Lays stone for housing colony in the village
Reaching out: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy interacting with Indiramma beneficiaries at Budidampadu village on Wednesday. BUDIDAMPADU (Khammam dt.): Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy said here on Wednesday that the Dummugudem and Indira Sagar projects on which the people of the region pinned their hopes would be completed in the next three years. Addressing a gram sabha as part of the ‘Intinta Indiramma’ programme here, he said that the Dummugudem lift scheme, which was expected to extend irrigation facilities to over 2.5 lakh acres, would change the face of the upland areas in the district. He said that the government had taken up the programme with a view to providing houses to all the poor and the needy. The programme was implemented on a massive scale at a rapid pace. He wanted the beneficiaries of the programme to make use of the assistance provided to them for the purpose of housing. The Chief Minister visited some hutment dwellers in the village and had a long interaction with them. One of the Indiramma beneficiaries explained to him that she had been living in the hutment with three of her sons and their families. All the three families were sanctioned houses under the programme, she said extending her gratitude to the official machinery and the Chief Minister. He laid the stone for the housing colony in the village. Some 200 houses would be built under the programme. He gave away house site pattas to the Indiramma programme beneficiaries at the gram sabha. It was attended by Ministers Botcha Satyanarayana, Redya Naik, S. Chandra Sekhar, Vanama Venkateswar Rao. Jalagam Venkata Rao, G. Narsaiah, both MLAs, Puvvada Nageswara Rao, P. Sudhakar Reddy and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, all MLCs, also tended. District Collector Sashibushan Kumar and Superintendent of Police D.S. Chouhan were also present. The police arranged tight security for the Chief Minister’s programme. Some of the elected representatives such as G. Narsaiah found it difficult to make it to the dais. He was allowed with the intervention of Mr. Chouhan.
