HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission has directed Secretary to Government S. Chellappa to inspect the school in a village of Gundlapalli mandal, Nalgonda district, where a section of students have skipped the mid-day meal because of caste feelings.
Taking cognisance of a report published in The Hindu on Wednesday, B. Subhashan Reddy, chairperson, directed the officer to counsel the students and authorities appropriately, so that normalcy returns in the relations between the students.
A press release of the commission said this kind of caste feud, particularly among school children, “is a bad tendency and is detrimental to the very enforcement of precious fundamental right to education. This kind of tendency has to be nipped in the bud.”
