Corrections and clarifications

* A sentence in “A lesson in nuclear reactors” (Editorial page, September 11, 2007) was: “It [India] has standardised 220 MW units, of which is has built 10 reactors and four more are in an advanced stage of completion.” It should have been “It has standardised 220 MW units, of which it has built 10 reactors and four more are in an advanced stage of completion.”

* The strapline of a report “Swaraj Mazda rolls out luxury buses” (“Business” page, September 12, 2007) was “Enters medium and heave commercial vehicle segment”. “Heave” should have been “heavy”.

* A number of readers have not been able to access the website

www.iscribe.co.in, that was mentioned in a report “Vidya Sagar to launch website for scribes” (Chennai city, September 7, 2007, page 5). It was given as www.i-scribe.co.in in the report. The hyphenation occurred because of the characteristics of the editing software in use.

* The scores column of a report “Saurashtra takes lead” (on the second day of the 77th all-India Moin-ud-Dowla Gold Cup invitation cricket tournament) should have read “Saurashtra 292 vs Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) 208 instead of CAB 292 vs Saurashtra 208 in 81.1 overs, as was published.

* The tenth paragraph in a hockey report “Asia Cup triumph and after …” (“Sport”, September 11, 2007) was: “A cash incentive, meagre though by cricketing standards, will be a deserving recognition of the magnitude of the achievement. The IHF had announced that the team would get Rs. 1000 for every goal scored, and Rs. 2000 for each one conceded ….” It should have been “… The IHF had announced that the team would get Rs. 1000 for every goal scored, and lose Rs. 2000 for each one conceded ….”

* Jeev Milkha Singh had a 68 in his final round, as mentioned in the first paragraph of a PTI report “Jeev finishes 31st”. It was not 72 as mentioned in the second paragraph. Also, Jeev sunk in a birdie (and not a bogey, as was published) to round off his day. The report was on the Omega European masters golf championship at Crans-Sur-Sierre, Switzerland.
