NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Centre on a public interest litigation petition, which alleged that a decision was taken to import wheat at exorbitant prices.
A Division Bench, comprising Justices M.K. Sharma and Sanjiv Khanna, asked the Centre to file a reply by October 9, the next date of hearing.
Petitioner A.K. Thakur also sought cancellation of the deal and demanded its investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The government had agreed to pay Rs. 1,600 a quintal to the foreign exporters while the Minimum Support Price for domestic farmers was fixed at Rs. 850 per quintal, he said.
