BEIJING: Fourth seed Ivan Ljubicic swept into the quarterfinals of the China Open tennis tournament on Wednesday with an emphatic 6-1, 6-1 win over Viktor Troicki. Playing his second match in less than 24 hours, the energetic Croatian found his target with less than half of his first serves but still had too much class for the 21-year-old Serbian. “It was very easy, I started well and didn’t make any mistakes,” the World No. 12 said. “I put a lot of pressure on him.” Ljubicic, who is looking for his third title of the season to boost his chances of making a return to China for the Masters Cup in November, will next face defending champion Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus. Lee in last eightAsian No. 1 Lee Hyung-taik beat German Bjorn Phau 7-6(4), 6-1 to ensure the continent will have representation in the last eight of the tournament. Earlier, third seed Tommy Robredo got his campaign underway with an easy 6-2, 6-4 victory over German Denis Gremelmayr.
