GULBARGA: The head of the Brahan Math in Chitradurga, Poojya Murugarajendra Sharanaru, on Wednesday cautioned the State Government not to create the impression that the Hyderabad Karnataka region was being neglected, as it would give impetus to forces demanding a separate State. Speaking to presspersons here, he said that nobody could dispute the fact that the Hyderabad Karnataka region had remained backward all these years due to neglect by successive governments. The Government should make an honest attempt to implement the recommendations of the High Power Committee for Redressal of Regional Imbalances headed by the late D.M. Nanjundappa and the implementation of the report should be based purely on the committee’s recommendations. Also amending Article 371 of the Constitution to provide separate reservation in employment and education for the people in backward regions, would be the only answer for removing regional imbalances and providing them with equal opportunities in these sectors. He said that many people were migrating to bigger cities in search of employment. The Government should set up more industries to overcome the problem of unemployment and migration, he said.
