Hyderabad: After grilling Congress leader K. Keshava Rao’s son K. Venkat Rao for two days, the Hyderabad police on Wednesday arrested him and produced him before a local court in connection with the death of real estate businessman Prashant Reddy. The third additional chief metropolitan magistrate court has remanded Venkat Rao to judicial custody for 15 days. Officials of Crime Investigation Department, to which investigation of the murder case has been assigned, have moved the court seeking Venkat Rao’s custody. Venkat Rao reportedly told the police that he had no involvement in Prashant Reddy’s death. Arms Act The police have invoked provisions of the Indian Arms Act against Rao accusing him of failing to keep his licensed revolver in his custody. Prashant Reddy died of a bullet from Venkat’s revolver in the latter’s home at Jubilee Hills on Sunday. Adequate evidenceThe police submitted to the court that they were yet to receive report on the swabs collected by forensic officials from the hands of the arrested person to ascertain his complicity in the case. Meanwhile, Prashant’s second wife Preeti who got herself admitted to a corporate hospital soon after Prashant’s death told media persons that she has adequate evidence to prove that she got married to him. Replying to the question, Ms. Preeti said she would hold a press conference soon explaining the circumstances that led to her marriage to Prashant Reddy.
