HYDERABAD: Legislative Council member Chukka Ramaiah has opposed the Government’s reported plans to privatise the Class VII examinations instead of its earlier decision to do away with the examinations.
Mr. Ramaiah argued that it would put unnecessary tension on the students. When the very idea of abolishing the examinations was to reduce pressure on the students then where is the base for privatising it. In that case the Government itself can conduct the examinations since the teachers would be in a better position to judge the student instead of an outside body. So there was no need to involve private organisations and create additional pressure on students.
He feared that the private agencies would use the facility to rank the schools and use the information commercially. The idea of privatising examinations emerged at a review meeting held in the presence of the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday though a final decision was not taken.
