ICRISAT chief to chair UN panel

HYDERABAD: William D. Dar, Director-General of International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), has been elected chair of the science and technology committee, Conference of Parties of UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

A press release from ICRISAT said here on Wednesday that the committee is responsible for advising the UNCCD on all scientific issues relating to its mission on desertification, land degradation and drought.
