HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has directed oil-marketing companies and Civil Supplies officials to release 3.36 lakh LPG connections this year and another six lakh connections next year to women from below-poverty-line families under ‘Deepam’ scheme.
Reviewing the scheme, he also asked Collectors to provide lists of beneficiaries identified for connections to oil-marketing companies.
He wanted the companies to acquire the required machinery to achieve the target set by the Government. He noted that a huge sum of Rs. 299 crore had been spent on the scheme, with the connections released so far numbering a total of 35.91 lakh.
