Court summons actors
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: A Metropolitan Magistrate Court here has summoned Hindi actors Sunny Deol and Dharmendar Singh Deol to appear in person on October 11.
The summonses were issued by the VII Metropolitan Magistrate (George Town), C. Thirumagal, on a complaint lodged by R. Bhagavandoss Bajaj of the Chennai-based Sheela Enterprises and Associates.
The complainant alleged that Sunny Deol had borrowed Rs. 10 lakh from him to complete his Hindi film ‘Big Brother’ in April 2006. Two cheques issued by him for a sum of Rs. 5 lakh each returned unpaid as a stop-payment notice had been issued by the actor.
Despite acknowledging receipt of several letters, reminders and legal notice, the accused did not return the principal amount or the interest, he alleged, adding that the complaint under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act had been initiated after due notice.
