Perumal, Kavitha shine

CHENNAI: N. Perumal and V. Kavitha excelled in the men’s and women’s sections respectively in the two-day LIC South Zone athletics championship held recently in Palayamkottai.

The Tamil Nadu Minister for Environment and Sports, T.P.M. Mohideen Khan, was the chief guest on the final day and gave away the prizes.

The winners: Men: 100m: H. Jeyachandran (Cbe); 400m: P.S. Primesh (Tvm); 800m: P.S. Primesh (Tvm); 1,500m: P. Kasi (Slm); 5000m: P. Kasi (Slm); 10,000m: M.M. Hareendranath (Koz); 110m hurdles: S. Sridhar (Tan); 400m hundred: P. Senthan (Mdu); L ong jump: H. Jeyachandran (Cbe); H igh jump: K.R. Roshan (Ern); Triple jump: P. Senthan (Mdu); Shot put: G.V. Vijayanandan (Tan); Discus: N. Perumal (Tan); Javelin: N. Perumal (Tan); Hammer: N. Perumal (Tan).

Women: 100m: V. Kavitha (Che); 200m: V. Kavitha (Che); 400m: V. Kavitha (Che); 110m hurdles: N. Packiyalakshmi (Tan); Long jump: Lekha Roy (Che); High jump: N. Packiyalakshmi (Tan); Triple jump: Lekha Roy (Che); Discus: V. Meena (Tvl); Hammer: M. Florence (Mdu).
