CCOB defeats BDL

HYDERABAD: City College Old Boys recorded a 2-0 win over BDL in the SAAP premier league prize money football tournament at the Gymkhana here on Wednesday. Winger Mouzzam put CCOB ahead in the seventh minute off a pass from Jaleel.

In the second session, Jaleel himself was in the scoring act off a cross from Naveed in the 59th minute.

The other match between State Bank of India and Accountant General (AP) was abandoned due to heavy rain.

CSD (Sec’bad) triumphs

Canteen Stores Department (Secunderabad) won the championship trophy in the CSD regional sports meet with 74 points here. CSD (Bangalore), with 59 points, and CSD (Khadki), with 50 points finished second and third respectively.

K. Kanagaraj of Secunderabad was adjudged the Best Sportsman and Vanaja from Bangalore the Best Sportswoman of the meet.

Mixed day for KV No.1

Kendriya Vidyalaya (Trimulgherry) drubbed Kendriya Vidyalaya No. I (Uppal) 7-0 in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan regional hockey tournament for girls here.

Sudha struck four times, Sangeetha twice and Deepika once for the winner.

In another match, KV No. I (Uppal) defeated KV (Trimulgherry) 2-0 with right-out M. Rushitha striking once in each session.

Vizag triumphs

At Visakhapatnam, Visakhapatnam won the Durisetty Appa Rao Trophy by topping the league table in the ACA North Zone u-15 inter-district cricket tournament on Wednesday.

Visakhapatnam defeated Vizianagaram by 10 wickets with M. Praneeth claiming six wickets in the second innings. Srikakulam drew with East Godavari in another last-round league match.

The scores: Vizianagaram 125 and 122 in 36 overs (K. Satish 80, M. Praneeth six for 13) lost to Visakhapatnam 244 for three decl. and fourfor no loss.

East Godavari 234 for seven drew with Srikakulam 160 in 88 overs (Virendra 76, Dinesh 25, Ch. Sambasiva Rao four for 48).

Inter-DPS cricket

The South and Central Zone inter-Delhi Public School cricket tournament will be organised by the Delhi Public School (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant) at the Ukku Stadium, Ukkunagaram, from September 14 to 17.
