Sourav Ganguly. KOLKATA: “The England tour was an outstanding one for us,” said Sourav Ganguly, who arrived here on Wednesday morning. “We won the Test series and came very close to winning the one-day series as well. Overall it was an outstanding series for India,” he felt. Ganguly was personally satisfied with his performance in both versions of the game on the tour. When asked whether India choked in the final game of the NatWest ODI series, he said: “I don’t think the NatWest Trophy loss can be attributed to choking. It’s just that we did not have a good day in the office,” he said. When asked whether India was a victim of pressure situation, he said: “pressure is there in international cricket. But we are used to it.” That none of the Indians could score a century did rankle him but admitted it was not a bother. “It did not happen during the series but it is bound to come in near future,” he said. On the opening partnership between him and Sachin Tendulkar, Ganguly said they have been playing together for long and have developed a good understanding between them. On the Indian Twnety20 squad, Ganguly said it was a young side and he hoped it would do well.
