Make-shift ponds for idol immersion
Staff Correspondent
Chitradurga: As the Vinayaka Chaturthi is round the corner, the district administration and City Municipal Corporation (CMC) is making hectic preparations for the smooth conduct of the festival.
The district administration had given clear directions to people to get permission from the police, CMC and Bellary Electricity Supply Company before installing the Ganesh idols in their respective localities.
The CMC has made elaborate arrangements for the immersion of Ganesh idols. To prevent water pollution, the CMC has set up make-shift immersion tanks in various parts. Syntex tanks had been placed at 14 places.
The district administration had given strict instructions to people who set up the pandals for Ganesh idols that the pendals should not obstruct road. The organisers should not use loudspeakers after 10 p.m.
