Maharaja’s College in quarterfinals

THIRUVANANTHPURAM: The failure of its rival, St. Joseph’s College, Palayamkottai, to turn up helped Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, receive a walk-over and enter the quarterfinals of the fifth Dhyan Chand memorial South India inter-collegiate hockey tournament at the LNCPE ground, Kariyavattom, on Thursday.

The day’s second match between S.N.College, Kollam and U.C.College, Aluva was abandoned as bad light stopped play after 22 minutes. The match will be replayed on Friday.
