KOZHIKODE: The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) on Wednesday alleged that the Muslim community had been denied 58 seats in medical and engineering colleges due to “subversion of community reservation norms” for allotment of students to professional colleges. “Muslim merit and Muslim reservation have been subverted during the allotment,” a resolution passed at a meeting of IUML alleged. Mohammed Basheer, former Education Minister, presided over the meeting held at League House in Kozhikode on Wednesday. “ The Government web site does not give details regarding the allotment made to professional colleges. “Neither does it give details of the category-wise allotment of students,” a resolution passed at the meeting said. ‘Ensure transparency’
An appeal has been made to the State Government to make up for the deficit in the quota for Muslim community. Transparency must be ensured in all matters pertaining to the allotment of students to professional colleges, the IUML resolution pointed out.
