NPA to celebrate diamond jubilee

HYDERABAD: The Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), the premier training institution for Indian Police Service officers, has lined up a series of events for its diamond jubilee celebrations year beginning September 15.

A ceremonial parade is being organised on Saturday. M. K. Narayanan, National Security Adviser, will take the salute, review and address the parade, according to a press release. Other events during the year include a national seminar on IPS training, a half marathon, release of a postal stamp, publication of a coffee table book and a documentary film on the academy and all-India equestrian meet. Established as Central Police Training College (CPTC) at Mount Abu, Rajasthan, on September 15, 1948, it was renamed as SVPNPA in 1974 and shifted to present premises in 1975. Over the years, 4,100 officers have passed out of the institute.
