CM to present ‘vasthrams’ to Lord

TIRUPATI: Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy will present a pair of silk vasthrams to Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on behalf of the State Government in line with an age-old convention. The Chief Minister who will arrive in Tirupati at 4.30 pm on a two-day official visit will proceed immediately to Tirumala and take the vasthrams in procession to the Hill temple to be presented to the Lord on the eve of the annual Brahmothsavam which would get underway on that day. The vasthrams will adorn the deity on the Garuda seva day which falls on September 19.

After a night stay at Tirumala, Mr.Reddy will reach Tirupati the next day and inaugurate the Rs.5 crore building which would house the headquarters of the A.P. Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd.

He will inaugurate the newly built eight-room guest house on the sprawling campus of the Urban Haat built at a cost of Rs.15 lakh. Mr. Reddy will later take-off to Hyderabad around 9.30 a.m.
