Vaghela’s allegation against Modi

Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD: Union Textiles Minister Shankersinh Vaghela, on Thursday said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was indulging in “Natwarlal-type cheating” making tall claims and giving false promises to the people about developmental measures taken up by his government.

Mr. Vaghela told media persons that Mr. Modi was consistently refusing to acknowledge the financial assistance provided by the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre for the benefit of the people of Gujarat and trying to pass everything off as his government’s contribution.

Mr. Vaghela claimed that in the last three years or so, the Centre had provided assistance to the tune of over Rs 40,000 crores to Gujarat under different heads including the benefits provided to the tribals. But Mr. Modi was trying to mislead the gullible tribals by claiming to have prepared a Rs.15,000 crore development plan without allocating even a penny for it in the State budget.
